Images of Support | Tom Kaiden of The Phila Cultural Alliance testifies at City Hall

24 April 2013

On Tuesday, April 23rd, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance President Tom Kaiden testified on the state of Philadelphia’s cultural sector during a City Council budget hearing. He also presented the GroundSwell petition asking City Council to restore the budget for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, which has already collected hundreds of signatures (add your name here).

Philadelphia is quickly gaining a reputation nationally and internationally as a world-class city for arts and culture, but the theaters, museums, dance troupes, arts centers and other groups that give us that renown are struggling to survive the deep cuts that have been made in government and institutional cultural funding over the last few years.
Show your support for Philadelphia’s cultural sector by supporting the Philadelphia Cultural Alliance as arts advocates.

New Press at Education Works

In thanks to funding from the Honickman Foundation, I am working with Art Reach as a visiting artist to run a workshop with young adults.  We walk through their neighborhood, and they create visual stories using digital point and shoot cameras.  We then return to the classroom to create photo-postcards!  The workshop is enriching for me and, I hope, the students involved.

Art Reach is an incredible organization that everybody in Philadelphia should know about :
